Rental Property Income and Expenses
20/06/2013 by Chapman UpchurchThis week's blog focuses on the deductibility and tax treatment of income and expenses for Rental Properties.
Did you know that if you put insulation into a rental property to replace existing insulation, the cost of this is deductible? However if you are insulating a house for the first time, that is considered capital expenditure and there is no tax deduction.
As a rental property owner, to claim Home Office expenses you need to be in the business of renting properties. It is our opinion that Inland Revenue does not consider the investment in one or two properties to be a business activity.
